Welcome Home Mom!
We are happy to have you home and hope you enjoyed your trip to Peru.
As usual my mom-in-law keeps busy and today was just another incredible example of how she makes a difference in this world. I got an email at 7:45 this morning asking if we would want to come help make blankets for some of the 416 children who were removed from the FLDS compound in Eldorado. She picked M up shortly after we talked and they went shopping for a few hours to get fabric for the blankets. Helen has a pretty amazing "stash" of fabric, but the request for blankets was specific in stating that there be no cartoon characters or anything with the color red. She said M was a big help and they returned home with bags and bags of fleece to make blankets. We went to lunch and then got started. We are happy to have you home and hope you enjoyed your trip to Peru.
The kids, my mom and I went to Helen's house to work on making blankets after we had lunch at Babe's. We made 28 blankets in about 4 hours. The kids were an incredible help. Helen's Project Linus group will bring the blankets we made and blankets gathered from around North Texas to San Angelo on Tuesday.
I can't imagine what these young women and children have been through, been exposed to or what the future will bring for them. I have been holding tighter to my own children as this story comes to light. It is a tragic story and one that makes me extremely sad.
Knowing how Project Linus has quietly been caring for those in need for years makes me sure that what we did today will make a small difference. I hope it will help my own children understand the importance of giving when you can, how you can and also give them a sense that if they are ever in need, there will be someone there to wrap them in a warm blanket.

Hi Kelly! Wow, what an awesome project!! It really is tragic what those children are going thru, hopefully all will be clarified soon & they can move on from this tragic experience. It has to be nice to know that some little ones will find comfort on the blankets y'all made and what a great lesson for the kiddos... great job!!
